Semarchy 2024.3 in detail

Delivery Management API
Runtime REST APIs have been added to manage deliveries, such as listing configured repositories and adding or removing deliveries from them. Until now this information was only available via the command line. These REST API endpoints provide users more flexibility and significantly enhance automated delivery management.

SAP S/4 HANA Connector
xDI 2024.3 introduces a new connector to manage SAP S/4 HANA – the leading ERP solution for most companies. Even though the application houses some of the most mission-critical data, leveraging that data elsewhere is often challenging.

This connector allows users to seamlessly integrate SAP S4/ HAHA sources, via BAPIs and DataSources into your data ecosystem.

Updated connectors
The Azure Service Bus Connector was introduced earlier in the 2024 release cycle. In this release, we have added the capability to subscribe to topics and subscriptions, and to schedule messages. The Azure Blob Storage connector also gains support for Storage Access Key authentication. These features provide users with better interactions with Azure Service Bus and more secure authentication options to Azure Blob Storage.

Serializers and Deserializers
In this release, we continue our efforts in providing new templates to (de)serialize data. This release introduces a new template to deserialize Oracle string data to JSON, as well as a new JSON Serializer template optimized for Snowflake integration. As a reminder, (de)serializers provide users with an effortless, streamlined way to transform and move your data across different formats.

Additional GenAI Enrichers
GenAI enrichers were introduced in the xDM 2024.2 MS release. We have continued developing the built-in GenAI plug-ins available to designers of Semarchy xDM applications. Now, you can fully harness the most advanced AI models like GPT-4, Google Gemini, and Amazon Titan, available through prominent providers such as Microsoft Azure AI, Google Vertex AI, and Amazon Bedrock.

AI-based Classification Enrichers
AI-based classification enrichers are now available to automate the categorization of data with little (“few-shot”) to no (“zero-shot”) prior training on labeled datasets, saving time and improving accuracy with minimal training required.

These new plug-ins analyze text and can assign records to predetermined categories, eliminating the need for extensive manual classification. Designers will benefit from customary ease and flexibility in configuring the parameters needed to implement the enrichers. End-users will of course benefit from a seamless integration of automated, AI-based classification of records directly in their Semarchy applications. Both enrichers use models accessed through the Hugging Face API and allow flexibility in choosing a model that suits the nature of the data to be classified.

Purview Connector Update
The latest update to the Purview connector introduces the capability to publish Semarchy xDM entities to a data product in Microsoft Purview. These assets are designated as golden-record data and are now displayed alongside the Semarchy xDM logo, ensuring users can easily identify them while browsing data products.

Set Workflow Metadata Automation
In the Workflow Builder, a new Set Workflow Metadata automation allows setting the value of specific workflow properties, such as description, start comment, priority, due date, and next task assignee metadata, using SemQL and literal values. Among its potential applications, this new feature enables efficient task scheduling by empowering designers to dynamically set due dates based on current date or record data. Furthermore,  comments or descriptions can provide context for workflow instances that were started automatically.

Start Workflow From Selected Parent
Simplify complex data relationships by initiating workflows from parent records while improving data integrity and user experience when working with hierarchical data. In the Workflow Builder, designers can now configure data-driven workflows to start from a specified parent record by selecting the Start From Selected Parent startup context. This new feature enables users to initiate workflows on child entities and facilitates the creation of records by automatically linking them to their parent records. Additionally, this new startup context can be used through the workflow administration REST API using the “parentRecordSelectionFilter” startup parameter.

Initiative Improvements
Stakeholder actions now have an improved and more intuitive interface as well as better visibility and traceability into their contributions within Initiatives. We expect this will help enhance collaboration and track progress more effectively.

Metrics Enhancement
Metrics and badges are important aspects of data governance. This release provides further enhancements to the expression language used to define rules that may be used to create or modify badges and/or calculate metrics. These enhancements will provide users with more powerful and flexible options to easily improve their governance policies using metrics and badges.

Asset Enrichers
Enrichment at Semarchy is the process of modification, transformation, or otherwise improving elements through a (semi)automated approach. Siblings detection in Semarchy Data Intelligence is now automated through an enricher that aims at unifying flows, identifying similar groups of assets, or data which may be coming from the same parent source. Recognizing and managing sibling relationships is a key aspect for maintaining data quality, and particularly in compliance with respect to data governance policies.

Siblings Management
Manual identification of siblings is also possible through lineage authoring. This function works seamlessly with automated asset enrichments by tracking both manual and automated siblings improvements, retaining any previous manual sibling identification. The coordinated coexistence of automated and manual sibling identification ensures flexible yet powerful siblings management.

New and Improved Harvesters
We are continually working to improve the capacity of Semarchy Data Intelligence to support a large panel of technologies. In this release, additional value has been generated by focusing on the lineage captured from database technologies and providing better coverage of security layers. This approach enables us to provide agile, tailor-made harvesters that fit the business needs of our customers.

Improved SSO and Group Synchronization
Enjoy a smoother experience with enhanced authentication system syncing, including capturing information on user group structure, and streamlined single sign-on (SSO) to improve user interaction with Semarchy Data Intelligence.
