For three years in a row, Semarchy has been recognized in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Master Data Management (MDM) Solutions and this year, the company entered the leaders’ quadrant. Needless to say that our entire team is amazed, proud, excited, and above all, grateful to our clients and partners who have been with us on this journey.
Now that the dust has settled, it is time to think about the reasons why Semarchy appears as a Leader in the Magic Quadrant for MDM Solutions (it sounds better when you say it a second time).
First of all, getting there was not just about money or finding new shiny buzzwords to seduce the market. It was a mix of solid market understanding, product vision, and flawless execution. This position reflects the achievements of our team over the past few years.
Marketing is the first part of that equation. Semarchy has achieved a sustainable position over the years in the data management market against large competitors and is still gaining even more market share. Thought leadership puts the Semarchy brand in a situation where it can shape the market. To be fair, it is an odd position from which we are then observed and copied. For example, having the Intelligent Data Hub term – that we coined – used by our competitors is a mark of success in that field.
Product success is the second part, and it is not about throwing new buzzwords and technologies on roadmap slides. Analysts do not get fooled by roadmaps. They need to understand and see how the offering works, and observe over the years how it matures to meet the market and customer needs. Semarchy chose a unique and unified platform approach that sets it apart from most mega-vendors that sell galaxies of solutions to solve for data management. This platform supports a large scope of use cases and industries, which also sets it apart from niche vendors. The platform has evolved over the years with a constant flow of releases and powerful capabilities to cover the ever-growing market requirements where expected, on-premises, in the cloud or as a service.
Business execution is critical in the mix. A steady revenue stream, a sustainable growth plan and long-term viability are critical. Semarchy provides for a variety of industry and use cases and has designed an efficient and sensible sales process, focusing on delivering value to the market. Business execution is only possible by establishing respectful and transparent relationships with partners and customers.
Flawless customer success is, in my opinion, the most important piece. Believe it or not, analysts actually spend countless hours talking to clients using the products they evaluate. Direct feedback, such as the reviews publicly available on Gartner Peer Insights, is the way to convince analysts. Our customers speak for us. We strive for customer satisfaction via our product quality, Community, tutorials, training curriculum and services – all contribute to the overall customer experience.
